An outstanding restaurant for authentic local Kumamoto cuisine: Aso Cuisine Himeji!

Located beside National Route 57 in a traditional folk house-style building, this restaurant has been loved by foodies for its comforting home-style flavors since opening in 1986. It satisfies every craving for Aso cuisine, from the fragrant local specialty takana rice and traditional Kumamoto dago-jiru, with its sweet broth and chewy dumplings, to tender, pleasantly chewy Akaushi beef bowls and rare, freshly sliced horse sashimi. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the dining atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It’s definitely a top 5-star choice for enjoying local cuisine on a trip to Aso!
