Tsuruga—our first stop was Tsuruga Station! The station has a very modern feel, and as soon as you step outside, you can sense the city’s distinctive atmosphere. The most eye-catching part is all the Galaxy Express 999 and Space Pirate Captain Harlock elements around the area, which are really interesting for anime fans.

As you walk around near the station, you can see quite a few statues of anime characters. Strolling and taking photos feels like going on a little anime pilgrimage. Each statue has a different pose and scene, making it hard not to photograph every single one.

Tsuruga Station is also an important transportation hub for traveling to Fukui, Kanazawa, and other parts of the Hokuriku region. Transportation has become even more convenient since the Hokuriku Shinkansen was extended here. This was only a brief stop, but I already felt that Tsuruga had more character than I expected.

This time, I took a red-eye flight to Tokyo. The biggest advantage of a red-eye flight is that you can save a night of accommodations and keep the entire day free for sightseeing and shopping. After arriving in Tokyo, I started the day's itinerary while pulling my luggage along. Although I was a little sleepy, thinking about the places I was going next gradually brought my energy back.
Nintendo Museum

Opened on October 2, 2024, the Nintendo Museum is the brands public facing hub, now renovated on the former Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant. Step inside to find detailed exhibits and a deep dive into Nintendo's journey and its dedication to craftsmanship.

On the way to Ogura to buy matcha this time, I happened to pass by the Nintendo Museum. When I saw the building, I had this exciting feeling of, “So this is where it is!” As someone who grew up playing Nintendo games, passing by this place felt especially familiar.

Although I was only passing by this time and hadn’t planned to go inside, just seeing the museum building brought back memories of playing the Famicom and Game Boy. It instantly felt like I was back in my childhood.

I was in a hurry on this trip, so I could only stop by and take some photos. It was a nice little unexpected part of the trip. If I have a chance to visit Kyoto again, I’d like to set aside time to explore the museum and learn about Nintendo’s history and how it developed into what it is today!
Jozankei Onsen (Hot Springs)

A historical hot spring resort located in Minami-Ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, also known as the inner city of the large Sapporo metropolis. It has been designated as Shikotsu-Toya National Park for more than 150 years since the hot spring opened. The hot spring resort extends along the riverbanks carved by the Shirai River and the Toyohira River.

When we arrived in Jozankei Onsen, unfortunately it was already nighttime by the time we reached the hotel, and most of the shops were closed, so we didn't get a chance to explore properly.

Although we missed the lively daytime streets and unique shops, Jozankei at night had its own peaceful atmosphere. There weren't many pedestrians, and everything was much quieter, which made it easier to appreciate the laid-back, relaxing feel of the hot spring town.

Jozankei is located on the outskirts of Sapporo, surrounded by forests and river valleys, and is a well-known hot spring destination in Hokkaido.
