When visiting Yokohama, you absolutely can’t miss the historic Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse! These two red brick buildings retain the style of the Meiji and Taisho eras. Their charming vintage exteriors make every photo look like a postcard filled with European romance.

Step inside the warehouses, and there’s even more to discover. They’re filled with creative goods, local souvenirs, and unique restaurants, including Kiyoken’s exclusive must-buy “Red Brick Shumai” and extremely popular brunch pancakes. It’s a great place to shop and eat. Beyond the shops, there’s a spacious waterfront park right outside. When you get tired of browsing, you can sit on the grass, enjoy the sea breeze, take a walk, and gaze out at beautiful Yokohama Port and the large cruise ships. It feels incredibly relaxing.

I especially recommend visiting in the evening. When the warm orange lights illuminate the red brick walls against the enchanting nighttime scenery of the Minato Mirai area, the atmosphere instantly becomes incredibly romantic. It’s an excellent place for a date or simply to unwind! Whether you want to experience its rich history, enjoy good food, or admire the unbeatable ocean views, this is a place you won’t want to leave.

Minato Mirai 21

JR Sakuragicho Station, Japan’s first train station, is the gate to Minato Mirai. Coming out of the station, you will see a futuristic cityscape such as the 296m-tall Yokohama Landmark Tower and the ferris wheel Cosmo Clock 21. In 2021, the urban 630m-long ropeway, YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN, was opened, connecting the former railway and the Unga-Park Station.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at Minato Mirai 21 in Yokohama was how relaxed and spacious it felt compared with Tokyo. It perfectly blends modern skyscrapers with charming harbor scenery. During the day, I strolled along the waterfront in the gentle breeze, watching the boats come and go, and naturally found myself slowing down. Along the way, I visited the artistic Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and rode the modern YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN and the classic Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris wheel. The view of the harbor from above was refreshing and uplifting.

What impressed me most was the scenery at sunset and at night. As the setting sun turned the sky orange-red and the city lights gradually came on, the huge Ferris wheel and Yokohama Landmark Tower were reflected on the calm water, sending the romance level instantly off the charts. Whether enjoying food and shopping at the malls or simply sitting by the harbor in the sea breeze, everything felt relaxing and restorative.

The attractions here are close together and offer a wide variety of experiences. It's not only ideal for couples, but also great for families with children or groups of friends. I highly recommend setting aside a full day and exploring on foot and by train to fully appreciate the stylish, romantic, and ever-changing charm of this port city!
AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom

Opened in 2015, this is one of the largest shopping malls in Okinawa Prefecture. The five-story complex houses around 220 shops, including fashion, lifestyle goods, gourmet food, and entertainment facilities. Based on the concept of an “Okinawa Resort Mall,” the mall is filled with attractions and events that let visitors fully experience Okinawa through shopping and dining.

AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom was even bigger than I expected, and it’s really easy to spend several hours there without realizing it. There are lots of stores selling clothes, shoes, cosmetics and pharmacy items, and household goods, so you can keep browsing and shopping as you go. The supermarket is also fun to explore, with Okinawa-exclusive snacks, instant noodles, and souvenirs. Some items are even cheaper than in tourist areas. When you get tired, you can find a restaurant, grab something to eat, take a break, and then continue browsing and shopping. Being able to take my time choosing things without rushing to the next stop was actually what left the strongest impression on me about Rycom. Don’t forget to stop by the information center as soon as you arrive to pick up coupons specifically for international visitors!
Michi-no-Eki Itoman

One of Okinawa’s largest roadside stations sits along National Route 331, about a 20-minute drive from Naha Airport. The entire property sings with the fishing town character of Itoman, complete with a jaw-dropping variety of succulently fresh seafood, local fruits and vegetables, and regional specialties.

The Itoman Fish Market is perfect for people who love seafood! As soon as you walk in, you’ll see lots of fresh fish, sashimi, sushi, and seafood dishes, and everything looks so tempting. What I looked forward to most was buying freshly sliced sashimi. It tasted very fresh and had a great texture. There are also plenty of fried foods and Okinawan specialties in the market, so you can browse, eat along the way, and choose whatever you like. Although it was crowded, the atmosphere was lively and it was fun to explore. To me, the Itoman Fish Market isn’t just a place to enjoy good food; it also offers a glimpse into everyday life in Okinawa. I’d like to come back and try some different seafood next time I have the chance.
