The Seven Swamps of Tsuta (“Tsuta Nana Numa” in Japanese) are several swamps in Oirase; surrounded by numerous Japanese beeches, the area is also called a Sea of Trees in Towada. When fall begins, countless fall leaves are mirrored in the water to form “fall foliage reflections in water”, which are a magnificent and stunning spectacle at sunrise as it seems that fall leaves are blazing on the water.

Strolling around Seven Swamps of Tsuta

The Seven Swamps of Tsuta comprise seven swamps: Tsuta- Swamp, Kagami Swamp, Tsuki Swamp, Naga Swamp, Hyotan Swamp, Suga Swamp and Aka Swamp. You can take about two hours to make a tour of them (with the exception of Aka Swamp) by a trait called “trait of wild birds”. The walk around the distinctive swamps and the sight of the enchanting fall leaves will surely gladden your heart.

Perhaps it’s not easy to capture fiery “fall foliage reflections in water” since the scene occurs only at sunrise. But it doesn’t matter. As you can see from the photo below, the Seven Swamps of Tsuta, with the trees surrounding the waters under clear blue skies and white clouds, always look gorgeous!
