To Enjoy Bicycle Racing and Sightseeing, Come To Kawasaki!

First, head to the museum where you can enter the magical world of Fujiko · F · Fujio, the manga artist whose many famous works include "Doraemon" and "Perman". Among the myriad of items displayed are precious original drawings that can only be seen here! The theater showing videos exclusive to this location and a cafe offering an adorable original menu are also popular.

After enjoying the world of popular cartoon characters, why not relax at a hot spring? The Jomon Natural Hot Spring, Shiraku no Yu, offers visitors the chance to enjoy 100% natural hot spring water gushing from their own spring 1,300 meters below. When you finish your bath, I recommend having lunch at Shiraku-Tei, an authentic Japanese restaurant. Focusing on soba noodles and seasonal ingredients has made their menu popular.

Once you've warmed up your body at the hot spring, head to Kawasaki Station, where you can enjoy strolling and shopping. There are many shopping arcades in front of the east exit of the station. Since they are completely covered, even the rain won't stop you from having fun shopping! Feel the lively atmosphere of these streets as you visit the shops loved by the locals, from drugstores to restaurants.

After you've finished shopping, head for Kawasaki Daishi, a temple famous for warding off evil spirits. Many people also come here for the first temple visit of the New Year. First, pay your respects at the main temple hall. I recommend taking a commemorative photo in front of the beautiful, vividly colored octagonal pagoda!

For your final destination on this model course, go to the Kawasaki Velodrome. This is where top cyclists compete by riding around a banked track to reach the goal first. Unlike bicycle racing in the Olympic Games, team as well as individual races are held here. Feel the full impact of these thrilling races up close! Even if you don't bet on the races, you can still enjoy watching them while having a meal. Night races are also held from March to November.

The Keirin bicycle races hold both individual and team competitions. Between 2 and 4 racers form a team called a "line" and work together to win. Before the first race, the cyclists circle the banked track in a line formation to show off their legs. This is called Ashi-mise in Japanese. Be sure to observe each racer carefully!

The 9 uniforms are color-coded by the bike number, and the color of the bike shorts indicates the S or A rank.

Once you predict who will win, write it down on the mark sheet. While there are various ways to bet, it's easy for beginners to choose “nishafuku”, or the first two finishers, regardless of their order of arrival.
