Myaku-Myaku: The Official Character of the Osaka-Kansai Expo

The official character of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Myaku-Myaku, is a mysterious creature born from the fusion of cells and pure water, and has become a symbol of the Expo.
The red parts represent "cells," while the blue parts symbolize "water." Myaku-Myaku has a friendly but clumsy personality.
Currently, it takes a human-like form, but its true identity remains a mystery, and its ability to transform into various shapes is one of its key features.
Myaku-Myaku is named with the hope that it will carry the potential passed down through human DNA, wisdom, technology and culture, and connect it to the future in a continuous, "pulsing" way.
Officially licensed products are already on sale, and official stores are being launched nationwide, primarily in the Kansai region, as well as through the online store. Popular items include plush toys and keychains, so be sure to check them out!

6 Must-See Highlights at the Osaka-Kansai Expo

The Osaka-Kansai Expo venue is vast, with a wide variety of attractions. Since it’s difficult to visit everything in one trip, here are six key attractions to keep in mind to make the most of your Expo experience.

1. The Grand Roof Ring: Combining Symbolism and Functionality

The Grand Roof Ring is one of the largest wooden structures in the world, with a circumference of approximately 2 kilometers, a building area of about 60,000㎡, and a height of 12 meters (with the outer structure reaching 20 meters) and an inner diameter of about 615 meters. It is set to be completed around January or February 2025.
The distinctive circular roof serves two purposes: functionality (distributing visitors and providing shade) and symbolism (creating a strong, memorable shape).
Beneath the ring, visitors can enjoy a comfortable space that shields them from rain, wind and sunlight while also providing smooth passageways between pavilions.
Additionally, from the Skywalk, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the entire venue and the beautiful surrounding landscape, including the nature of the Seto Inland Sea and views bathed in the sunset.
