Zaza City Hamamatsu is a shopping complex located within walking distance from JR Hamamatsu Station. The name of the facility was chosen by a public vote before the opening. It was named after as a place where people can gather (zazatto in Japanese). As the name suggests, it became a shopping mall where customers of all ages hang out every day.
The facility consists of two buildings. While the West Wing is for shopping and movies, the Central Wing houses a local food hall, Hamamatsu Rakusai, and the Hamamatsu Children’s Plaza a public facility of the city. There are many specialty stores, large fashion shops, supermarkets, and a food hall including the famous local specialty Hamamatsu Gyoza (dumplings). The mall has been providing a perfect place to visit any time from weekdays for daily shopping to holidays for special occasions.
In 2021, Kajimachi no Yu SPA SOLANI, a hot spring facility with a capsule hotel and internet cafe, has just opened, making it more convenient for sightseeing and business. In addition, there is the Haikara Yokocho where you can find small old-style snacks and tin toys. The Central Square for various events includes live performances and talk shows, and the Hamamatsu Diorama Factory exhibits a local well-known artist Takuji Yamada’s works. It is an exciting spot for both local folks and tourists.
