Last update :

This shop in Fuchu traces its history back to the Taisho Period. It started as a tailor to make tabi socks and work clothing for craftsmen.

Now with the third owner, it has become an essential shop for Fuchu Festivals which sells happi and T-shirts, tabi socks and zori sandals. Festival goods and souvenirs for tourists fill the shop and it is fun even just to look at them.

Tourists’ favorite is a small bag made of dish cloth (1,180 yen and up) with Japanese patterns such as flowers, squares and lions. They are Japanese-like and tourists from other countries and exchange students love them as souvenirs. Zori sandals with rubber souls (1,080 yen) are practical souvenirs you can use daily.

Other popular items are the wooden key chains with the words “Kurayami Matsuri,” (200 yen) referring to Okunitama-jinja Shrine’s festival in May and T-shirts with the picture of a big drum (2,500 yen and up) that are related to Fuchu.
