Tanya Rikyu was established in 1987. Today, there are approximately 80 Tanya Rikyu restaurants throughout Japan, and their taste is loved not only by the residents of Miyagi Prefecture but also throughout Japan. The restaurant serves mainly beef tongue set menus for lunch and izakaya-style dishes for evening hours.
At Rikyu, the preparation process of beef tongue is done by craftsmen who peel, slice, slit, and age the beef tongue with a knife. The thickness, amount of salt, and degree of maturity are calculated and served according to the skill of the craftsman, ensuring the same high quality beef tongue at every restaurant. The beef tongues are grilled over a charcoal fire to a savory perfection that is sure to whet your appetite and make you want to drink more.
