Located in some of Japan’s most popular tourist destinations, SNOOPY Chaya offers a unique chance to step into the world of the globally beloved beagle Snoopy and his PEANUTS friends while also experiencing the charm of the local area.

Among the bustling streets of Yufuin Onsen, SNOOPY Chaya Yufuin is especially popular. Relocated and reopened in 2022, the café-restaurant is decorated throughout with PEANUTS characters on its walls, windows, and frames. The menu features a wide range of adorable and creative dishes themed around Snoopy and Woodstock, such as omurice, curry, sweets, and drinks. Visitors can also savor regional flavors, including oven-baked pizza topped with Oita-grown shiitake mushrooms and lunch plates featuring toriten (Oita-style fried chicken).

The adjoining goods shop offers original Japanese-style items such as tenugui (hand towels) and drawstring pouches, with many products exclusive to the Yufuin location. Within the same building, you’ll also find SNOOPY Chocolat Yufuin, a chocolate specialty shop perfect for sweet souvenirs.

I visited Yufuin in December and came across a SNOOPY collaboration shop while walking around. It was a nice surprise, and anyone who likes SNOOPY would probably have a hard time resisting stopping to take a few photos. Unfortunately, I was short on time that day, so I couldn't go inside. I just took a few photos at the entrance and left.

After I got back, I looked it up on Google and found out that they not only have all kinds of SNOOPY collaboration merchandise, but also matcha soft serve, which looked really tempting. If I'd known they had all that inside, I probably would have tried harder to make time to look around.

This trip also made me realize that for a place like Yufuin, I really shouldn't join a tour next time. Traveling independently would suit me better. On group tours, you often just get off the bus at an attraction, take some photos, walk around briefly, and then have to rush back to the bus when time is up. There isn't enough time to go into many of the shops you want to see. It was a bit of a shame that I could only take photos outside this time. I'll have to save it for next time and explore at a more relaxed pace.

Located at the end of Yunotsubo Street, SNOOPY Chaya is a dream destination that Snoopy fans visiting the area definitely shouldn’t miss.

Not only can you find a dazzling selection of unique souvenirs that are so cute you won’t want to put them down, but best of all, each SNOOPY Chaya location across Japan offers its own exclusive items, making them highly collectible. In addition to shopping, the cafe also serves beautifully presented meals and afternoon tea, making it a great place to sit down and catch your breath when you’re tired from shopping.

It’s not just the items inside that are irresistible. The facade, which blends traditional Japanese architecture with Snoopy elements, is also incredibly photogenic. The moment you step inside, you’re completely surrounded by a soothing atmosphere. If you want to avoid the crowds, I recommend visiting around 3 or 4 p.m. for a more comfortable experience.

Super cute〜 I love Snoopy so much.

I had a crème brûlée soft-serve ice cream, but it was pretty average. The spoon was so cute, though—it had a design on it.

I took my cup home as a souvenir and kept taking pictures.

I showed a lot of restraint and didn't buy a bunch of stuff, haha.

There's a huge Snoopy plush you can take pictures with.

It's a great place to pick up a few travel souvenirs. The café dishes are just as creative, with Snoopy designs incorporated into every item. They look cute from every angle!

While strolling around Yufuin, I saw SNOOPY Chaya and just had to stop.

The whole place is filled with Snoopy details. From the decor to the desserts, everything is almost unfairly cute. It’s a total paradise for photos!

I ordered a few Snoopy-shaped desserts and pudding. They weren’t just adorable to look at—the flavors were great too. Sweet but not too heavy.

Eating cute desserts while looking out at the streets of Yufuin made for such a simple little travel joy.

If you love Snoopy or anything super cute, you definitely need to add this stop to your Yufuin itinerary!
