Nango Summer Jazz Festival
A traditional outdoor jazz festival in Hachinohe City with a history of more than 30 years.
Started in 1990, this outdoor jazz event has been a highlight of summer in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, for more than 30 years. The venue is the Kakko no Mori Echo Land Outdoor Stage, a natural acoustic space surrounded by nature where jazz players from Japan and abroad come together. The festival usually begins around 3pm, offering a luxurious time to enjoy high-quality jazz in the summer air as the clear blue sky gradually turns to dusk.
It is held every year in late July. With free admission for high school students and younger, it also draws many families. All seats are unreserved, so arriving early is recommended if you want to secure your preferred spot. On the day of the event, free shuttle buses run from Hachinohe Station West Exit and downtown Hachinohe, and free parking is also available near the venue.
As there is no roof at the venue, protection from the heat and bringing rain gear are essential. Tents and large parasols are not allowed.
