This Starbucks stands across from Hirosaki Park, a famous cherry blossom destination in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. The store occupies a Western-style wooden building constructed in 1917 as the former residence of the commander of the Eighth Division and is registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property. Since opening in 2015, it has been popular with locals as a relaxing place to enjoy coffee in a retro setting that blends Japanese and Western styles.

The interior consists of three areas that make use of the building’s former conference room, reception room, and Japanese-style room. The bar area has a dignified, relaxing atmosphere, while the seating areas feature contemporary furnishings made with local materials, including cushions incorporating traditional Tsugaru kogin embroidery and lighting by Bunaco. One room displays photographs tracing the building’s history, allowing visitors to discover Hirosaki’s rich history and culture while enjoying a drink.

Another highlight is the seasonal scenery, including views of Hirosaki Park’s cherry blossoms and outer moat. The store also offers products distinctive to Aomori Prefecture, such as glasses made with Tsugaru Vidro glassware and the Aomori Yadara Mee Apple Almond Frappuccino®, made with apples grown in Aomori Prefecture.
