Ryotei Yamagishi is a traditional Japanese restaurant in Daishoji, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Founded in 1877, it has a history of more than 140 years. It is also known for serving “Sakaami duck,” caught using a traditional hunting method. Many visitors come for this rare duck, with only Approx. 200 caught each year.
Duck hunting season runs from November 15 to February 15. Duck dishes are served from around November 20 to the end of February. The restaurant’s signature is the “Sakaami Duck Full Course.” The main dishes in the course are “Kamo Jibu Suki” and “Jibuni,” both made with wild duck. It is especially popular for letting diners enjoy the deep flavor of “Sakaami duck.” The restaurant also offers seasonal kaiseki meals that make the most of ingredients from Kaga’s villages, sea, and mountains. Lunch dishes such as the “Seafood Bowl” are popular as well.
The first floor is a kappo dining space, while the second and third floors are reserved for ryotei dining, with 120 seats in total. The first floor also has counter seating, making it easy to enjoy even in a small group. Meanwhile, the second and third floors offer a more formal atmosphere. They are ideal for enjoying an authentic course meal for business entertainment or special gatherings. This is a great place to experience flavors unique to Kaga.
