Supervised by :  福岡アジア美術館

Located inside the large multi-use complex Hakata Riverain, home to a shopping mall, theater, hotel, and more, this is the world’s only museum specializing in modern and contemporary Asian art, with an outstanding collection in both quality and scale.

In addition to the Asia Gallery, which introduces the museum’s modern and contemporary Asian art collection from a variety of perspectives, special exhibitions covering a wide range of themes are held regularly. The virtual museum on the official website also lets visitors view past exhibitions. Reflecting Fukuoka’s long history of exchange with other parts of Asia, the museum also runs initiatives unique to the city, including a residence program that invites artists from Asia and around the world for stay-in production.

The museum also features an art cafe with Approx. 10,000 books on art, Asia, travel, and more that visitors are free to browse, a pop-designed kids’ space produced by a Vietnamese artist, and a shop.
