Located in Tachibana-machi, Yame City, about 1 hour by car from central Fukuoka City, this plum grove is known as one of Kyushu’s three great plum gardens. Around 20,000 white plum trees are planted across vast rolling hills spanning Approx. 800,000 hectares, and the best viewing season comes every year from mid to late February.

During the Yume Tachibana Plum Blossom Viewing Festival, visitors can enjoy not only strolling through the spectacular plum grove in full bloom, but also food stalls, local farm products, specialties, and stage events. A special nighttime illumination event is also held, where lights from lanterns made from around 3,000 bamboo stalks flicker inside a tunnel usually used as a wine cellar, creating a magical atmosphere.

Because the plum grove is on private property, entry is normally prohibited. It is open to the public only during the Yume Tachibana Plum Blossom Viewing Festival, so be sure to check the event dates before visiting. There is no parking for private vehicles near the venue, so taking the temporary shuttle bus from the Tachibana Branch of Yame City Hall is recommended.

A whole hillside of blooming plum trees feels really soothing.
It’s not too crowded, so you can walk around slowly and take photos without feeling packed in. The floral scent is light and pleasant, but it’s not the kind of place that makes you go wow right away. If you’re already in the area and visit during plum blossom season, it’s definitely nice. Making a special trip just for this probably depends on the person.
