Happiring

A station-front commercial complex with dining, souvenirs, and a planetarium.

Last update :

This high-rise building stands at the west exit of Fukui Station, with 2 basement floors and 21 floors above ground. Up to the 5th floor is a mixed-use commercial complex, while the upper floors are residential apartments. The name “Happiring” combines “happy,” meaning happiness in English, and “ring,” expressing the hope that circles of happiness will spread outward from the building.

Inside, you’ll find a wide range of dining options, from Echizen soba, a Fukui specialty, to popular chain restaurants from around Japan. There is also a marche selling vegetables delivered fresh from local farmers every morning and gelato, along with souvenir shops offering Fukui traditional crafts and local specialties.

At “Hapiterasu,” a plaza covered by a large roof inspired by phoenix wings and a glass screen, you can take a break while shopping and enjoy a variety of events. There is also a planetarium with a Real 8K dome theater said to have the highest resolution in Japan, offering yet another way to enjoy the facility. A tourist information center with temporary baggage storage and bicycle rentals is also attached.
