A facility where you can enjoy learning about the white snakes that have long lived mainly in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Their mysterious appearance, with pure white glossy bodies and red ruby-like eyes, has led people to cherish them since ancient times as messengers of the gods. In 1972, they were designated a National Natural Monument.

Inside the museum, the exhibits are organized by theme. “The Story of the Iwakuni White Snake” introduces the relationship between the white snake and the people of Iwakuni through panels and video materials. You can learn about the history and episodes surrounding the white snake. “White Snake Encyclopedia” explains their ecology and characteristics, while “The Mystery of the White Snake” offers quiz games and hands-on exhibits that let you deepen your understanding while having fun.

One of the highlights is the “Live White Snake Exhibit,” where you can observe real white snakes up close. Photography is also allowed as long as you do not use a flash. The gift shop on site offers a wide range of white snake-themed goods, including protective charms made with white snake sheds and lottery ticket holders said to bring good financial luck.
