Gokuraku Onsen Takumi no Yado is a hot spring ryokan surrounded by the rich natural beauty of Okukirishima Kogen Town. It is home to a high-concentration carbonated mineral spring, rare even in Japan, and its long-beloved “Beauty Bath” has been known for generations as a famous hot spring associated with Emperor Jimmu. Set in a quiet location overlooking the Okukirishima mountain range, it also serves as a convenient base for hiking and hot spring therapy tours.

One of the inn’s highlights is its free-flowing high-concentration carbonated mineral spring, sourced from the Chisutenoki River. It is said to be highly effective for improving circulation and relieving fatigue, and is also known for leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth. The baths include a “single-carved stone bath” hollowed from a single slab of rock, a cold bath filled with spring water, and an open-air bath. For dining, the popular Sangakuryori Irori Kaiseki features local seasonal ingredients such as char and Miyazaki beef grilled over an irori hearth.

There are three types of guest rooms: a special room, a 24-tatami Japanese-Western room, and a 12-tatami Japanese-style room. In the special room “Yayoi,” guests can enjoy a luxurious soak in a private open-air bath. Throughout the property are cultured spaces including a gallery and shop with local crafts, as well as a salon lined with books and artwork. The harmony of hot springs, art, and nature makes this inn truly worthy of the name Takumi no Yado.
