Tokiwaso is a hot spring ryokan nestled at the foot of the Kirishima Mountains in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture. Originally founded as a small restaurant, the inn still carries on its original wish to serve fresh, delicious food. It is known as a place where guests can enjoy the rich natural surroundings of Miyakonojo and Kitamoro, hot springs, and locally sourced cuisine.

One of the inn’s main draws is its kaiseki meals made with local ingredients, including rice grown on its own farm and Miyazaki beef and Miyazaki brand pork. There is also a wide selection of shochu to pair with the food, mainly from Miyazaki, including Kirishima Shuzo. The hot spring is a hypotonic, neutral cold mineral spring, with several baths including Umebi no Yu, surrounded by plum trees.

There are two types of guest rooms, from standard Japanese-style rooms to rooms with open-air baths. In this quiet space surrounded by greenery, guests can enjoy a stay away from everyday life. The inn also has private banquet venues for celebrations and special occasions. It is a hot spring inn that can be used for a wide range of occasions, including anniversaries and family milestones.
