Ikeda Foods Co., Ltd. “Sapporo Omiyage Cashew”

Founded in 1948, Ikeda Foods has continued to carefully make bean snacks and karinto at its own factory in Sapporo. “Sapporo Omiyage Cashew” is a limited item sold only at its directly managed stores in Sapporo.

Slow-roasted over an open flame, the cashews are coated in a batter made from rice flour and wheat flour to create a surprisingly light, crispy texture. The seasoning uses a special sauce blended with whole soybean soy sauce from Hokkaido, giving it a delicious flavor with the natural sweetness of the nuts and the savory aroma of soy sauce that keeps you coming back for more. Another highlight is the many layers of coating, carefully built up by skilled artisans. Applying the coating so that unevenly shaped cashews become a uniform size is truly a mark of expert craftsmanship.

The packaging was redesigned in January 2026. It now features a more Sapporo-like design, expressing the cityscape of Sapporo and its abundant greenery. Since each piece is individually wrapped, it is also perfect for sharing as a souvenir. From children’s snacks to treats to enjoy with alcohol, this is an item that can be enjoyed by a wide range of generations.
