Kerama Shoto National Park
Enjoy marine activities in the crystal-clear sea known as Kerama Blue.
This national park consists of more than 30 large and small islands scattered about 40 kilometers west of Okinawa Main Island, along with the surrounding sea area. Its greatest feature is the exceptionally clear sea known as “Kerama Blue,” one of the clearest in the world, and the rich marine environment filled with coral reefs. It is also popular for its easy access, just Approx. 40–50 minutes by high-speed ferry from Okinawa Main Island, making it easy to enjoy the atmosphere of remote islands.
The changing nature through the seasons is also a major attraction. From winter to spring, humpback whales migrate through the waters of Kerama for breeding and raising their young, making this a popular time for whale watching. Summer is the peak season for Kerama Blue and the best time for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. White-sand beaches and coves are scattered around the islands, and you can observe colorful tropical fish even in shallow water. In autumn, the heat eases and it becomes the most comfortable season to spend time here, with snorkeling, sea kayaking, and SUP especially popular.
