Tokashiki Island

Approx. 1 hour 10 minutes by ferry from Okinawa Main Island, this remote island at the eastern edge of the Kerama Islands is known for the beauty of its sea, which boasts some of the world's clearest waters.

The sea, also known as "Kerama Blue," is shallow and calm, making it ideal not only for swimming but also for snorkeling. Many visitors also come from overseas for diving, where they can observe coral reefs and a wide variety of marine life & tropical fish up close underwater.

Aharen Beach, known for its bow-shaped white sand shore, and Tokashiku Beach, formed in a cove along the bay, are the island's two main spots for marine activities, and if you're lucky, you may even get the chance to see sea turtles. Head farther offshore, and you can also enjoy whale watching in winter.

Much of the island's untouched natural beauty remains, and its slow, relaxing pace is part of the appeal. Taking in panoramic ocean views from one of the many observation decks around the island is a luxury in itself.
