Shuzenji Niji-no-Sato

A nature park in Shuzenji, Izu City, spread across an expansive site about 10 times the size of Tokyo Dome, with seasonal flowers and streetscapes full of international atmosphere. The park features a variety of areas, including British Village, which recreates the atmosphere of medieval England; Canadian Village, inspired by the city of Nelson in Canada; a Japanese garden; and Takumi Village, lined with traditional old houses. Simply strolling through the park makes you feel as if you are traveling around the world.

The Romney Railway, Japan’s only British-made railway operating as transportation within the park, is a popular attraction where steam and diesel locomotives run at a leisurely pace along a roughly 0.6-mile route, offering views of the lush natural scenery.

Visitors can take in beautiful floral scenery throughout the year, from cherry blossoms, rhododendrons, and wisteria in spring to irises and roses in early summer, autumn foliage, and narcissus in winter. The park also offers plenty of facilities for both children and adults, including craft experiences such as washi papermaking and woodworking, as well as Indian Fort, which features a 328-foot-long slide. With nature, flowers, railways, and hands-on activities in harmony, it is one of Izu’s representative leisure spots.
