Meikyoku Kissa Lion

A long-established music café that has been serving classical music for Approx. 100 years since opening in 1926. Highlights include the stunning acoustics created by custom-made speakers standing Approx. 3 meters tall and a collection of over 10,000 recordings.

Twice a day, at 3:00pm and 7:00pm, the café hosts regular concerts lasting Approx. one hour. During these performances, the air inside seems to sharpen and clear, creating an atmosphere like a small hall of music. The program changes daily, so each visit brings a one-of-a-kind musical encounter. Song requests are also accepted, and you can even bring your own records.

The menu centers on drinks such as hot coffee and iced coffee, carefully prepared by the owner, so you can relax while listening closely to the music. There is basically no food menu, making the lineup one designed for truly “savoring” the music.

With its high ceilings, heavy wooden chairs, and softly dim lighting, the café is full of Showa-retro charm, letting you forget the bustle of Shibuya and quietly immerse yourself in the world of music on your own.
