This Starbucks opened in 2026 in Maruyama Park, Kyoto City's oldest designated Place of Scenic Beauty. Its design concept, the “Coffee Teahouse,” draws inspiration from the traditional rest stops where travelers once took a break. Visitors can relax amid seasonal scenery and the beauty of a Japanese garden.

The store occupies two floors—the first floor and one basement level—within an existing traditional Japanese house and has 80 seats in total. Noren curtains and lanterns help the design blend into Kyoto's historic streetscape. The first floor features raised seating overlooking a wisteria trellis, as well as a large communal table. The basement level includes spaces inspired by a tearoom, dining room, and living room. Contemporary artist Mai Miyake also provided the art direction, with works exploring Kyoto's traditions, the cycles of nature, and coffee on display.

Conveniently located near Gion and Yasaka Shrine, the store is easy to visit while exploring the surrounding area. It also sells “JIMOTO Made” good-luck charms inspired by Kyoto's local culture. Carefully handcrafted using traditional techniques, they make fitting souvenirs from Kyoto or keepsakes from your trip.
