I really love the vibe of this old street. From the moment you leave the station, everything centers around Tora-san, the main character. The approach is lined with traditional wooden buildings and stone-paved streets. You can try classic street foods like grilled senbei and kusa dango, and there's a strong sense of community here—it's a real taste of Showa-era Japan. There's a theme, a story, and a rich culture. I felt like I got so much out of visiting.

I can proudly say I’ve watched every movie in the 'It’s Tough Being a Man' series, so this approach road feels so familiar to me. But walking here in person felt almost like a dream—I even found myself looking around for Sakura riding her bike. Even though it’s a bit different from the movie, you can still feel the warm, friendly atmosphere of the old town. Next time, I want to visit on a festival day at Shibamata Taishakuten to really soak in the vibe (*^_^*).

There are so many old shops with a long history along the approach. As you walk, you can smell the amazing aroma of grilled eel everywhere. Pairing it with white rice and their sweet, secret sauce is just delicious. There's also the famous local treat, mugwort dango from Katsushika. The dango is topped with a thick layer of sweet red bean paste—it's got a gentle mugwort fragrance and is sweet but not too much. Walking down the old streets of Shibamata, you really need to take your time to enjoy the food and appreciate the beautiful old buildings and the people, sights, and atmosphere.

It only takes about 30 minutes from Ueno to get here. The street is lined with lots of old shops, some of which have been around for over a hundred years. Highly recommend trying the grilled rice crackers and eel rice—they're must-haves! There are also nostalgic candy stores that remind me of my childhood. You really get to experience the culture of Japan's Showa era.

The retro Showa-era architecture and warm, friendly atmosphere, plus the connection to the 'It's Tough Being a Man' movie series, make this one of Tokyo's must-visit spots.
