Yokai Art Museum

Located in the "Maze Town" area, with its irregular narrow streets near the popular Shodoshima tourist spot "Angel Road," the Yokai Art Museum is a complex of four galleries that utilize old buildings to exhibit yokai art.

I was actually just passing by, but if you’ve seen that I went to Kitaro, you probably already know I’m really into yokai and that whole genre lol.
I especially love Junji Ito’s art style.
It just feels so weird in the best way. Is that a personal fetish? lol
I think I even got a capsule toy at a nearby shop.
I honestly can’t remember whether I actually went into the merchandise-only section, or maybe it was just a store.
That day I was so worried there wouldn’t be a ferry back to Takamatsu, so I was rushing around and didn’t dare wander too much haha.
What I really liked was that even without going inside, the whole exterior was done so well.
It made me go wow, I really want to check it out.
It definitely has that kind of pull.

Kitaro Train

This wrapped train features characters from the popular manga GeGeGe no Kitaro. Running along the JR Sakai Line between Sakaiminato and Yonago, it’s a favorite among Kitaro fans from Japan and abroad.

This is the rainbow I saw on the Kitaro Train.

I didn’t get a photo of the train artwork because I was so tired and just wanted to rest. But when I looked up, I saw this rainbow.

I got so happy that I accidentally pointed at it, and there happened to be a Taiwanese guy sitting across from me. He turned around and took a picture too!

It seriously put me in such a good mood. It was that kind of unexpected little surprise, and the rainbow was so clear.

It was really beautiful. I honestly feel like I get ridiculously happy over little things like this lol.

It’s not really a huge deal, but little moments of happiness during a trip can make you feel so, so happy.

I was already excited because I was out traveling, and then this just added on top of that.

I was like, wow, I’m seriously so lucky lol.

Maybe I’m too easy to please.

I actually do have a photo, but I posted it on IG with some text on it, and the image quality isn’t very good haha.

Nara Park

Nara Park is a scenic area surrounded by historical and cultural treasures, including Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kohfukuji Temple, Todaiji Temple, the Nara National Museum, and Shoso-in. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty of its expansive greenery while exploring these iconic landmarks. The park is located in the center of the city, making it easily accessible to various tourist spots.

Honestly, Nara Park is super famous!

But it was kind of scary. Buying crackers to feed the deer is basically a must, but the pressure is intense.

They keep surrounding you, and it feels like they might jump on you at any moment.

Also, for some reason I thought there would be giant Buddhas all over Nara lol. Heiji was so cool in that Conan movie hahaha.

It was really funny seeing the deer bowing to people, and then so many people would bow back.

But honestly, I felt like there were almost as many people as deer.

That was actually kind of overwhelming. There were seriously tons of people.

Still, I feel like this is one of those places everyone adds to their itinerary when they go to Osaka.

Monkey D. Luffy Statue

With over 500 million copies in circulation worldwide as of 2020, ONE PIECE has become one of Japan’s most iconic manga series.

It was raining that day. I hope I can collect all of the ONE PIECE statues someday!
There was also a handprint below it, and my hand is tiny.
When I put my hand on it, theirs was way bigger than mine. But I don’t have a photo, so I’m not sure if I deleted it... so sad. I was taking photos nonstop the whole trip in Japan.
Maybe because it was raining, I got to take a good photo with Luffy~
But honestly, I like Levi more.
I don’t know why, but I couldn’t find anything here about Attack on Titan in Hita, only Oita...
Whenever I see Luffy doing this pose, it makes me want to copy it too hahaha. Do everyone’s photos end up with the same pose?

Kushida Shrine

This head shrine is said to have been built in the 8th century. Residents in Hakata call it “Okushida san.” Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival declares the arrival of summer to the City of Hakata in July, and is dedicated to this shrine.

Honestly, I don’t really remember much about this place. I basically only came because everyone said it’s famous and that you should visit, hahaha.
It was definitely unique, but what I liked was... was it the crane? I thought it was really delicate.
And there was also one with huge nostrils.
Uh, is saying that going to offend anyone?
But the komainu really did have super big nostrils, and it was so cute.
Don’t you think it’s kind of hilarious?
I’m calling it the "broken dog."

Mizuki Shigeru Road

Mizuki Shigeru Road was established in 1993. The 800-meter-long street from Sakaiminato Station to the Mizuki Shigeru Museum is lined with 177 bronze yokai sculptures.

I seriously absolutely love this street.
I kept taking pictures the whole way. I originally wasn’t planning to stay that long, but I ended up spending the entire afternoon here. It was so awesome.
There are so many works here? I guess that’s how I should put it?
This is where I have to talk about the iPhone for a second.
The new feature lets you cut things out and turn them into stickers.
It works especially well with these.
Hahahaha I seriously love it.
And it has so much attitude, don’t you think?
There are sarcastic ones,
slapping ones,
funny goofy ones,
and tons of stunned-looking ones.
I could even use these pictures to tell stories hahaha.
I’m actually not very good with punctuation.
I’m not really sure how to split things into sentences and paragraphs.

Mizuki Shigeru Museum

Mizuki Shigeru wrote one of the most famous manga comics, GeGeGe no Kitaro. His memorial museum is located in Sakaiminato City, his hometown. A 14-minute walk from JR Sakaiminato Station along "Mizuki Shigeru Road" will take you to the museum.

I lined up for these photos myself. I really, really loved this place.

The whole walk there was full of Kitaro stuff, and the staff were especially friendly. They even helped take photos.

There was also a big Kitaro figure at the entrance with someone inside it. It looked really, really heavy, so that seemed tough!

But they still gave a thumbs-up, which was pretty funny.

I deleted the photos, though, because I looked too ugly in them hahaha.

If you download an app, you can translate things into Chinese.

I think I stayed inside for about two hours.

I also ran into a mom visiting with her child. I remember we had a little chat, but I honestly forgot what we talked about.

The kid was really cute though haha.

There was one area inside that felt kind of eerie, and I thought the atmosphere was done pretty well.

I liked it a lot.

If you’re into this kind of thing, you should definitely check it out. It’s a very comfortable place to walk around.

Ameyoko Shopping Street

The Ameyoko Shopping Street, affectionately known as "Ameyoko," stretches approximately 500m between JR Ueno Station and JR Okachimachi Station, with around 400 shops lining the street. It features a variety of businesses, including food and confectionery, clothing, general goods, and jewelry stores.

I’ve been there twice, hehe.
And wow, everyone’s saying OS is really cheap.
Someone on Threads said the OS in Asakusa was cheaper, but Ueno was actually cheaper.
I was so annoyed.
On my last day, I dragged my suitcase all the way to Asakusa just to buy it, and then came to Ueno to look around.
Turns out the thing I wanted was cheaper in Ueno.
I came in thinking I was going to prove I got a good deal, but instead I was just super annoyed. Really frustrating.
And I even stocked up. The staff said it was okay!
Honestly, I’d just tell everyone to go with whatever’s convenient.
You don’t need to keep checking what other people say.
But then if you don’t go, you worry you’ll regret it.
Such an annoying feeling.

Maybe people will think I’m being cheap, but I’m still young haha, so of course I want to save a little money.
Is that an excuse? Yeah, totally.

But yeah, Ameyoko is actually pretty fun to shop around.
There are lots of drugstores, capsule toy machines, and a really big Uniqlo.
It’s kind of an important hub too.
Still, it somehow felt just a tiny bit past its prime. I don’t know why, it just didn’t feel quite as lively as I expected.

SHIBUYA SKY

An observation facility offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the Tokyo cityscape from a height of approximately 230 meters above the ground. Located on the 14th, 45th, 46th and rooftop of Shibuya Scramble Square, the tallest building in the Shibuya area, there are three zones: "SKY GATE," "SKY STAGE" and "SKY GALLERY.

So, when you go up in the elevator, there’s this video segment, and wow, I honestly thought it was so well done.
Right after the video ended, we arrived at the top.
So awesome.
Too bad I can’t share the video, but I’ll leave that as a surprise for you guys.
The view wasn’t great that day though, so I’ll spare you my photos.
I really wanted to see the sunset, but all the afternoon time slots were sold outtttttt, which was seriously so unfair because we had the morning slot...
But it was pretty comfortable up there, and the sofas were great.
There were also people helping take photos, and on the way down there were quite a few souvenirs to buy.
Once I see something limited edition, I seriously want to splurge.
The ticket really isn’t cheap, but I think if you catch the sunset, it must be absolutely gorgeous.
I’ve seen so many super pretty videos online.
Such a shame I didn’t get to see it.

Shibuya Scramble Intersection

This is a scramble intersection in front of Shibuya Station. Said to be the world’s busiest crosswalk, it has become a famous sight to see in Tokyo. From the pedestrian bridge connecting the JR Yamanote Line and the Keio Inokashira Line, you can view the flurry of people crossing the intersection from above.

So many people. It was super crowded and kind of scary.
It felt like if people weren’t paying attention, they’d crash into each other.
There was even news recently about someone throwing something there,
so that made me a tiny bit nervous.
But it was okay lol.

The first time I went, I didn’t get any photos.
This time I only took some because I saw so many other people taking pictures, so I just casually followed along.
Hehe, now I’ve got one more post I can write.

Oh yeah, has everyone seen Alice in Borderland?
Hahaha, I really like it.
(Uh, is it okay to say that here?)
That close trio first met here, haha.
Honestly, I even thought that scaredy-cat guy was going to betray them lol.
Anyway, I think Alice in Borderland is pretty good, and it kind of helps introduce Tokyo too.
