When I passed by Hanazono Shrine, I noticed quite a few tourists and locals stopping in to pay their respects.
It’s really special that a traditional space like this has been preserved in the middle of such a busy downtown area.

The 3D Cat at Shinjuku East Exit
Located above the East Exit plaza of Shinjuku Station, one of the busiest train stations in the world, the giant 3D calico cat peers down at passersby in a dynamic video display. Since its debut in July 2021, the lifelike, seemingly popping-out 3D cat has captured widespread attention and has been featured in both domestic and international media.
Every time I walk by, there’s a huge crowd stopping to take photos. Seeing everyone holding up their phones is pretty wild.
The advertising effect is honestly really successful. -

Apple Store Shinjuku
Apple Store Shinjuku is Japan’s first adopter of Apple’s newest store design. Located on the 1st floor of the Shinjuku Marui Main Building, just a few minutes’ walk from Shinjuku Station, the store is eye-catching with its 37-meter-long glass storefront that faces the main street.
This Apple Store isn’t just about selling products. It feels more like a tech landmark in Shinjuku.
A lot of people go in even if they’re not planning to buy anything, just to enjoy the AC and check out the newly released products. -

Isetan Shinjuku
The main branch “Shinjuku Isetan”, designated a historical landmark of Tokyo, is an old department store made up of several buildings, such as one mainly specializing in men’s items, and the Isetan Kaikan that mostly comprises restaurants and cafés.
The building really has that Showa-era feel. The decorative details are incredibly refined, and you can sense the history in everything from the window frames to the reliefs on the exterior.
It doesn’t feel like an ordinary department store at all. -
