Sapporo Nijo Fish Market is conveniently located in central Sapporo and is a great place to experience the atmosphere of a local Hokkaido market. Strolling through the retro-style shopping street, you’ll find fresh catches, all kinds of seafood, and fruit stalls, creating a lively, down-to-earth atmosphere. Unlike a typical supermarket, shopping here also lets you experience the vendors’ warm and friendly hospitality. This time, I bought a bag of Hokkaido-grown button mushrooms to try. It cost less than JPY 1,000, and after I brought it back to Taiwan and used it in chicken soup, it had a rich aroma. Highly recommended. If you visit in fall or winter, you can also see plump, bright red crabs. When you get tired from walking around, you can stop by the nearby GARAKU Soup Curry for a piping-hot bowl of soup curry and take a short break.

This is a long-selling favorite was first released in 1994, boasting all the delicious flavor of whole snow peas in a delicious snack. Every bite is packed with natural bean ingredients like dietary fiber and protein.
Calbee Snow Pea Crisps look a little “healthier” than typical snacks. Made mainly with snow peas, they’re crispy with a mild bean flavor. I happened to find them on sale before and decided to give them a try. The flavor was better than expected—savory, salty, and hard to stop eating, with a nicely layered texture. They’re a good choice when you’re craving a snack once in a while.

Tempozan Marketplace
Located within the "Tempozan Harbor Village," where you can enjoy a full day of popular spots including one of the world's largest aquariums Kaiyukan and one of the largest Ferris wheels in Japan, this large commercial facility houses about 60 stores including fashion, miscellaneous goods, accessories shops, restaurants, and food courts.
Before riding the cable car, you can take a stroll around Tempozan Marketplace. There are plenty of small shops, food, and souvenirs, and the area has a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. You can browse around, grab some snacks, and get a feel for local life in Osaka. Afterward, head over to ride the cable car and enjoy the views around Tempozan.

Motomachi / Yamate Area in Yokohama
The Yamate district is located on a small hill to the south of Yokohama Chinatown. After the opening of the port in 1859, this area overlooking the sea became a foreign settlement, following Kannai. Many Western-style houses remain or have been relocated among lush greenery, including the Yamate Museum, a wooden house built in 1909 that blends Japanese and Western styles.
The Motomachi-Yamate area is a very pleasant place for a walk. The streets along the way are clean, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the area still retains a strong international feel. There are many unique clothing stores, variety shops, dessert shops, and cafés lining the streets, so you can browse as you walk. If you continue toward Yamate, you can also enjoy the Western-style houses and harbor views. It’s very relaxing.
