Former Osaka Shosen Building
Built in 1917 as the Moji branch of the shipping company Osaka Shosen, this Western-style building once served as a vital terminal when Moji Port was a key hub for continental routes during the Taisho era. The first floor functioned as a waiting room, while the second floor housed offices, making it an important gateway connecting the port with overseas destinations.
Mojiko is truly a distinctive, must-visit spot in Kyushu. It feels like Mojiko must have been a very lively and prosperous place in the past. There are all kinds of buildings〜I couldn't stop taking photos.
Every single one made me want to store it in my memory〜and they all use different colors.
I just looked it up and found out that this is the Former Osaka Shosen Building.
It was built in 1917, and I also took the opportunity to learn what it was used for. -

Former Moji Mitsui Club
Built in 1921, it served as a social club for Mitsui Bussan. The building showcases the half-timbered style, a traditional European wooden architectural technique, where the wooden structure, like beams and pillars, are exposed on the exterior. This design, combined with the dark brown wooden elements emphasizing its vertical and horizontal lines against the contrast of the white window frames, characterizes its distinctive appearance.
Overall, I actually don't know what this place is for. It seemed like it wasn't open that day.
I was simply drawn to the building. I thought a place this distinctive had to be featured here, and sure enough, it was〜
I think it's quite a unique building. If you pass by, you'll definitely look at it a few times. 99% head-turn rate. -

JR Mojiko Station
JR Mojiko Station, facing the Kanmon Straits in Moji, is the starting point of the JR Kagoshima Main Line. The wooden two-story station building, designed in a Neo-Renaissance style, is characterized by a symmetrical exterior said to represent a "gate," and it has been beloved as a landmark of Moji Port for many years.
Such a beautiful station. It was raining a little that day, but I still thought it had a very different atmosphere.
How should I put it—it had a classical feel.
A different kind of charm and a very relaxing atmosphere.
The restrooms were very clean, and the whole place was beautiful.
It left quite an impression on me. -
