The Shuri Kinjo-cho Stone Paved Path in Okinawa feels like stepping back into the historic era of the Ryukyu Kingdom. This ancient stone path is several hundred years old and is paved with Ryukyu limestone stones of various sizes. Tall trees and traditional red-tiled houses line both sides, giving it a strong sense of old-world charm. It wasn't until I actually walked along the path that I realized how uneven it was. Some sections are also fairly steep, so you need to be especially careful, particularly when the stones are a little wet and slippery. Looking up at the lush green trees on both sides, sunlight filters through the branches and leaves, creating patches of light and shadow that give the entire path a peaceful and mysterious atmosphere.
