Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort
Located in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort stretches across the slopes of Mt. Myoko. Just about 10 minutes by car from the nearest station, Myoko-Kogen Station, it is easily accessible and attracts many skiers each year. Of its 16 courses, about 80% are designed for beginners and intermediates, making it particularly welcoming for novices.
The gondola is super long—you can ski over 8 kilometers in one go! It’s incredibly fun. There are lots of beginner and intermediate slopes, so even newbies can have a great time.

Omi Beef Morishima
Omi beef is one of the top-3 wagyu brands from Japan. This spot, Omi Beef Morishima has been in business for 142 years, for about as long as the beef brand itself. It started in 1879 when beef consumption was still not popularized in Japan. Its roots trace back to opening in the Asakusa area of Tokyo as a butcher shop and beef hot pot eatery, known as “Yone-kyu” and has hasn’t stopped ever since.
Just seeing the marbling on the beef makes my mouth water. Whether you want steak, shabu-shabu, or sukiyaki, you can have it all here.

DAIGOJI Temple
In 874, Reverend Kobo Taishi’s disciple, Rigen Taishi founded this head temple of the Shingon sect. The entire 2.6 square miles of Mt. Daigo is the premise of the temple, the largest in Kyoto City.
I visited when there were no cherry blossoms or autumn leaves, so I could really relax and enjoy the scenery without the crowds.
