Here’s how to get to Kokusai Dori Shopping Street from Naha Airport, Okinawa’s main air gateway.
If you take the Yui Rail monorail, it takes Approx. 15 minutes to reach the nearest station, Kencho-mae Station. From there, it’s a 5-minute walk to the central area of Kokusai Dori.
Local bus service also takes Approx. 15 minutes, but because buses run less frequently, the Yui Rail is the recommended option.

A specialty shop for sata andagi, Okinawa’s traditional deep-fried sweet. It stands in nostalgic Heiwa Dori Shopping Street, just one step off Kokusai Dori in Naha.
The shop is particular about its ingredients, using things like its own “Ryugu Original Blend” made from a custom mix of several kinds of flour and fresh eggs, all in pursuit of a simple yet deeply satisfying flavor. There are plenty of flavors as well, including plain and brown sugar, along with original varieties such as coconut and black sesame kinako.

If you visit Okinawa, this is a specialty shop for the local favorite “Pork Tamago” that you should definitely try.
“Pork Tamago” refers to a pork and egg rice ball made with pork luncheon meat and Japanese omelet.
The juicy pork luncheon meat and fluffy egg pair perfectly with the rice, creating an irresistible savory flavor in every bite.

Shima Shabu Shabu NAKAMA is a shabu-shabu restaurant facing Kokusai Dori, where you can fully enjoy Okinawan ingredients such as rare meats and island vegetables.

It also has an attached “Awamor-ya” shop specializing in awamori, offering everything from standard bottles to rare aged varieties. Free Zone is located a 2-minute walk from Makishi Station on the Yui Rail.

It is said to have originated around 1450, and today it is held as a two-part event consisting of the flagpole procession on Kokusai Dori and the grand tug-of-war at the Kumoji Intersection on National Route 58.
At the grand tug-of-war, which begins in the evening, the world’s largest straw rope, recognized by Guinness World Records, appears.
The giant rope, newly handmade every year, weighs Approx. 40 tons in total, and participants pull it while divided into east and west teams.
General visitors can also join on the day as rope pullers, and the sight of so many people pulling together in unison is truly impressive.

Yachimun is Okinawa’s unique pottery tradition with a history of more than 300 years dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom era.
The story of Tsuboya, its famous production area, began in 1682 when the Ryukyu government gathered kiln operators from around the region in this area.
Along the Approx. 400 m street paved with Ryukyu limestone, you’ll find pottery studios, shops, galleries, and more. As you stroll through the old-fashioned streetscape, you can experience the culture of Okinawan craftsmanship.

Known as the kitchen of Uchinanchu, the people of Okinawa, this market is lined with Okinawa-only ingredients such as vividly colored fish, island vegetables full of the energy of the land, and pork in many different cuts.
Standing before ingredients you wouldn’t normally find in everyday shopping and enjoying conversations with the shop staff will make Okinawa feel much closer.
Another attraction is the “mochiage” service, where fish or meat you buy can be cooked for you at the cafeteria on the second floor (cooking fee charged separately).

Founded in 2015 on Kokusai Dori, a must-visit destination for Okinawa sightseeing, this yatai village has become a popular spot bustling day and night with stalls serving Okinawan dishes and creative cuisine made with local ingredients.

An arcade shopping street that continues from beside Don Quijote Kokusai Dori Branch on Kokusai Dori Shopping Street.
Approx. 60 stores line the street, and because many of them sell sweets and rice cakes used for special occasions, it was once also called “Sweets Street.”
Another feature is the mix of long-established local shops beloved by the community and souvenir stores aimed at tourists.
There are also many specialty stores selling foods and goods that can only be purchased on Ichiba Hondori.
If you enter from Kokusai Dori, the street leads directly to Makishi Public Market, making it easy to include in your sightseeing plan.

Okinawa Heiwa Dori Shopping Street is an arcade street spreading out one block off Okinawa’s main thoroughfare, Kokusai Dori Shopping Street.
The name comes from people’s wish for peace and from the movie theater called “Heiwakan” that once stood near the entrance.
The street has a nostalgic atmosphere and is lined with clothing stores, souvenir shops, and restaurants, drawing both local residents and tourists.
Another appeal is that you can experience local daily life by enjoying Okinawan food at long-established eateries or browsing old-fashioned variety stores.
It’s a spot where you can enjoy a more local side of Okinawa, different from Kokusai Dori Shopping Street.
