KAI Tamatsukuri

The hot spring inn offering Matsue’s traditions and food culture.

Last update :

This inn in Tamatsukuri Onsen Resort provides an outdoor bath for all the guestrooms. Experience the hot spring water called natural cosmetics, which is also mentioned as the Beauty Water in the ancient journal “Izumo no Kuni Fudoki” 1300 years ago.

The inn has 24 Japanese-style guest rooms each with a cypress or Shigaraki-ware outdoor bathtub and an adjoining room. The large bath has a unique spigot in the shape of a shrine.
The owner gives a fun lecture “Onsen Iroha” on Tamatsukuri Onsen’s history, the quality of hot spring water, and effective ways to bathe.

At night, savor the Kaiseki cuisine with generous San-in seafood such as blackthroat seaperch, clam and snow crab. In spring and summer, try the clam beef shabu shabu with the rich clam broth. In winter, Hono Mushi, the steamed snow crab in ritual paper sandwiched with cedar boards, or Kanisuki crab hotpot in the special pot made of Sekishu Tile. Breakfast is Uzuni, Izumo Region's local Japanese cuisine.

The inn has Nihonshu Bar serving various specialty sake, fit for Shimane where Japanese wine was first created. Tea ceremonies which are popular in Matsue City, Iwami Kagura performance, Shimane’s dynamic traditional dance, and other activities are available.
