Sapporo Snow Festival is a celebration of snow and ice and the origin was that the local high schoolers built the six snow sculptures at Odori park in 1950, now that the festival is selected as one of the three biggest snow festivals in the world. The festival is held in three venues of the Odori, Susukino, and Tsudome square in the beginning of February. The most major event held in the winter of Sapporo has been popular with about 2 million visitors from in and out of Japan.

At Odori venue, a huge snow sculpture is built with a building-like size, what an overwhelming scale! Unique citizen snow sculptures are built by the citizens, among which you can vote for your favorite ones. Many various attractions are located, for example, the skating rink is, and you can watch the competition by skiers or snowboarders.

At Susukino venue, the ice sculptures are displayed with the theme of “Enjoy the ice”.
A fantastic world is created with the ice sculptures and illumination road at each block.

At Tsudome square, a food court is open inside the building, and outside of the building, both adults and kids can enjoy as much as they want with slides built with snow and a snow rafting. It is possible to feel good enough about the great nature of Hokkaido.
