Built in 1956 on Nishi 1-chome, the starting point of Odori Park, the Sapporo TV Tower is well known to locals and tourists alike as a landmark of Sapporo that has witnessed the city's development since its completion.

The observation deck, about 90 meters above the ground, offers a spectacular view of the Ishikari Plain and the Sea of Japan on a clear day, not to mention the city of Sapporo.
In winter, the observatory is also a prime spot for Sapporo White Illumination and Sapporo Snow Festivals, and can be reserved for 30 minutes after closing, making it especially popular with couples and married couples (reservations required).

The TV Tower Observation Lounge is home to the highest shrine in Sapporo dedicated to "TV-Tosan (TV Dad)," a popular mascot character created in 2002, and is often visited by fans of TV Dad as a sacred place.
Other features include a "Kowaso~(Window of thrills / A scary looking window)" made of a single sheet of glass from the foot to the ceiling, which has been installed as a spot to enjoy the view and thrill of the city.

  • During the day, you get to see the lush greenery of Odori Park and the lively cityscape. At night, the city lights up and the view becomes even more enchanting.

  • You can have a meal at the restaurant on the 3rd floor or check out the shops. Buy a ticket on the 3rd floor and take the elevator up to the observation deck—the night view from up there is pretty nice.
