Eisa Museum is located on the Koza gate street facing the entrance of the US base, as a home base of Eisa, a traditional Okinawa’s entertainment, this museum preserves the Eisa culture and promotes the inheritance. Eisa is a traditional event of a memorial service for their ancestors held on the Bon days of the lunar calendar. Young men parade within their local area performing Eisa at this time of every year.
300,000 people visit during 3 days to see Okinawa Zento Eisa Festival which has been held since 1956.

In the Eisa Museum, visitors can browse books related to eisa, and costumes and tools are on display. There is a large-sized screen in the museum showing Eisa Festivals held at the local places around the prefecture during the Bon days of the lunar calendar, or watch videos of past Eisa Festivals at the Okinawa Zento Eisa Festival space. Don’t miss checking out an Eisa performance class to experience a genuine Eisa directly taught by staff (an extra charge for the class, reservation required). The museum also sells Eisa-related souvenirs and goods, making it the perfect place to learn all about Eisa.

Welcome Corner on the 1st floor is free of charge, Exhibition and experience classes on the second floor are charged. Parking is available 24 hours a day.
