Located in Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture, Byobugaura is a dramatic coastal inlet stretching from N washing Town to Gyobu Misaki in Asahi City. Its iconic steep cliffs, standing approximately 50 meters above sea level and extending for about 10 kilometers, have earned it the nickname "Dover of the East" due to their resemblance to the White Cliffs of Dover in England.

The cliffs, continually eroded by ocean waves, exhibit a stark, barren beauty with minimal vegetation. Their distinctive striped geological layers are striking and have often been featured in movies, TV dramas, and commercials. In March 2016, Byobugaura was designated as both a National Place of Scenic Beauty and a Natural Monument.

Access to the top of the cliffs is restricted due to safety concerns and the presence of private property. Those wishing to photograph the area from above must obtain prior permission.

For stunning views, visitors can enjoy a walking path extending from the adjacent Choshi Marina. This trail offers breathtaking perspectives of the majestic cliffs.
