Kaisenya Negibozu
A refined seafood kappo dining experience with carefully selected fish shipped directly from off Sado Island, paired with premium Koshihikari rice aged at ice temperature.
Kaisenya Negibozu is conveniently located just outside Niigata Station’s South Exit. Run by the Yonekura Group, this izakaya is known for seafood dishes and casual kappo-style dining that lets you experience the charm of Niigata, one of Japan’s leading regions for rice and sake.
The menu centers on seasonal seafood dishes such as assorted sashimi. The restaurant’s signature item is the special nigiri sushi platter “Takumi,” limited to 10 servings per day. There is also a wide selection of dishes that highlight the flavors of each season. Fresh fish caught off Sado Island and the coast of Niigata are used, and the lightly seared skin-on “aburi sashimi” of exceptionally fresh nodoguro is especially outstanding.
Another must-try alongside the seafood is the rice. Sado-grown Koshihikari rice, aged at ice temperature in a snow storage warehouse, is cooked in a copper pot over a kamado stove. Freshly cooked, it is highly aromatic, and even when cooled, you can still enjoy the rice’s rich flavor and moist texture.
There are Approx. 150 seats, and private rooms can accommodate up to 60 guests. The restaurant also offers value plans through online reservations, banquet course plans with all-you-can-drink options, and plans that let you add 15 kinds of local Niigata sake. There is also a city shuttle service available for banquets of at least 10 people, making it suitable for sightseeing, banquets, and business entertainment.
