Hotel Saginoyu

A lakeside stay on Lake Suwa where you can enjoy private-spring moor hot water and the seasonal flavors of Shinshu.

Last update :

Hotel Saginoyu is a long-established hot spring ryokan on the shores of Lake Suwa in Nagano, with a history of more than 100 years. Located in the heart of Kamisuwa Onsen, it boasts a prime setting with beautiful lake views. Its story began around 1905, when the first owner opened a public bathhouse, and over the years it has also contributed to local culture, hosting many Japanese-style painters and calligraphers who created works during their stays.

One of the inn’s standout features is its 100% private-source moor hot spring water, drawn from Approx. 100m underground. The lightly brown water is fragrant and smooth with a soft, silky texture. The spacious open-air garden bath lets guests soak while enjoying scenery that changes with the seasons. The cuisine is themed around the seasonal flavors of Shinshu, with a rich selection of local specialties including Shinshu beef raised on apples, horse sashimi, char, wakasagi smelt from Lake Suwa, and river shrimp.

The inn offers a wide range of guest rooms, including 13 rooms with open-air baths, seven Japanese-style rooms and six Western-style rooms, all with free-flowing hot spring water straight from the source. Banquet halls and conference rooms are also available, making it suitable for family trips, business stays, and more. There are also many sightseeing spots nearby, including Suwa Taisha Shrine. This is an inn where you can enjoy famous hot springs, fine cuisine, and beautiful scenery all at once.
