Hitsuzan Park
A popular night view spot overlooking the sparkling cityscape of Kochi.
Set on Mt. Hitsuzan, Approx. 120 m above sea level, this park lies on the south side of downtown Kochi. At the summit, an Approx. 7 m-high observation deck offers panoramic views of Kochi City. From here, you can look down over the city center, the Kagami River flowing nearby, and even the high-rise buildings near Harimaya Bridge, making for an exhilarating view.
Also known as a night view spot, the park takes on a romantic atmosphere from sunset into the evening. For night views, the benches in the first parking lot are recommended. The illuminated Kochi Castle and the sparkling buildings of the city center create an outstanding atmosphere. Since the night view can also be enjoyed from inside a car, it is popular as a date spot.
The park is also famous for cherry blossoms, with Approx. 1,000 Somei Yoshino cherry trees planted in the park and on the mountainside. When they reach peak bloom in early April each year, the area becomes lively with many people enjoying hanami. On the mountainside also stands the grave site of the Yamauchi family, the lords of the Tosa Domain, designated a National Historic Site in 2016.
