Fujiiya “Momiji Manju”

Fujiiya’s Momiji Manju is one of Hiroshima and Miyajima’s signature sweets. Made on Miyajima, where the company was founded, for more than 100 years, it represents the origins of Fujiiya and is carefully crafted using select ingredients and production methods while preserving its traditional flavor.

The classic smooth red bean paste is made with adzuki beans from Hokkaido. The beans are peeled before cooking to create an elegant, wisteria-colored paste. Its smooth texture and rich adzuki bean flavor have long been cherished as Fujiiya’s traditional taste.

The castella cake batter surrounding the bean paste is made with plenty of fresh eggs sourced from nearby farms and baked until light and fluffy. Specially milled flour is also used to bring out the wheat’s natural flavor, while skilled confectioners adjust the baking temperature and time to achieve the right balance with the filling.

In addition to smooth red bean paste, flavors include chunky red bean paste, matcha bean paste, custard cream, and chocolate, offering a choice to suit different tastes. It makes an ideal Miyajima souvenir or a gift that captures the character of Hiroshima.
