TOKYO SKYTREE is another iconic Tokyo landmark following Tokyo Tower. Besides going up the tower to enjoy views of Tokyo, there’s actually a lot to browse inside. It has many stylish shops offering everything from souvenirs and desserts to household goods, and you can often find various collaboration and limited-edition items.

Visiting TOKYO SKYTREE was truly an incomparable experience! Looking up at the tower's structure from the ground during the day is spectacular, and the views of the entire Tokyo cityscape from the observation decks at 350 and 450 meters are extremely expansive. I was lucky enough to catch a limited collaboration exhibition with the popular anime BLUELOCK. The Tembo Galleria corridor was filled with character key visuals and photo walls, and there were also special cheering buttons, themed elevator wraps, and a pop-up souvenir shop. Fans definitely shouldn't miss it.

A “Taiwan Festival” happened to be taking place in the plaza below the tower, with lanterns everywhere and all kinds of authentic food and snacks for sale, creating an incredibly lively atmosphere. I recommend buying observation deck tickets online in advance to save time waiting in line. After visiting the decks, you can head straight to the mall and nearby market. It's a must-visit attraction with plenty to see and experience!

A Taste of Home Beneath TOKYO SKYTREE

TOKYO SKYTREE in Tokyo's Sumida City is the most prominent landmark on the city's skyline. During the day, its massive structure soars into the clouds; when night falls, its lights illuminate the city, creating another captivating view.

In April 2023, we visited TOKYO SKYTREE and unexpectedly came across a familiar and welcoming Taiwan Festival. Red lanterns hung overhead, crowds bustled about, and all kinds of Taiwanese street food filled the streets of a foreign country. For a moment, although we were traveling in Japan, it felt as if we were back at a night market at home.

Compared with the strong local Japanese culture of Fukuoka's yatai food stalls, the Taiwan Festival beneath TOKYO SKYTREE offered a different kind of cross-border exchange. Taiwan's warmth and Japan's orderliness came together naturally in this modern city—not in conflict, but in remarkable harmony.

As we gazed up at TOKYO SKYTREE and enjoyed the familiar flavors of home, the sounds of Japanese streets filled our ears while memories of Taiwanese night markets appeared before our eyes. Perhaps the most captivating part of travel is unexpectedly finding a familiar feeling in an unfamiliar city.

TOKYO SKYTREE is one of Tokyo's most iconic landmarks. Its soaring structure can be seen from far away and is very impressive. Looking up from the base of the tower really makes you feel especially small, and I was also amazed by the building's height and design.

This time, I went up to the observation deck and looked down over central Tokyo from high above. The densely packed buildings and roads seemed to stretch endlessly, and in good weather, you can even see far into the distance. Watching the sunset in the evening and then seeing the countless lights of Tokyo after nightfall was truly beautiful.

The high-speed elevator ride is very quick.

Visiting TOKYO SKYTREE left a very deep impression on me. After taking the high-speed elevator to the observation deck, the expansive view before me was breathtaking, with the entire Tokyo cityscape in sight. When the weather is clear, you can also see far into the distance. There are many shops and restaurants in TOKYO SKYTREE, so it was a lot of fun to browse while trying some local treats. I also bought a few souvenirs to remember this wonderful trip.

The night view from TOKYO SKYTREE is also very beautiful, but it felt a little stuffy inside the observation deck, so I still prefer Shibuya SKY because the view is more open. When I went, TOKYO SKYTREE was doing a Toy Story collaboration, and the entire observation deck was decorated with Toy Story displays. Super cute.

Standing beneath TOKYO SKYTREE for the first time, I couldn’t stop looking up. At 634 meters tall, it’s absolutely breathtaking! Take the elevator to the Tembo Deck, then continue up to the Tembo Galleria for sweeping views of Tokyo. On a clear day, you might even see Mount Fuji. It’s totally worth it and definitely a must-visit.

Don’t rush off afterward! Tokyo Solamachi downstairs is fantastic for shopping, dining, souvenirs, and clothes. You can also visit Sumida Aquarium and the planetarium. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or with friends, you could easily spend half a day or even a full day here. You won’t want to leave!

Standing right underneath TOKYO SKYTREE and looking up is a totally different kind of awe! The steel structure is absolutely massive, stretching up into the sky, and the design feels really refined. It’s even more beautiful after it lights up at night. The glowing steel lines against the night sky look just like a futuristic building from a sci-fi movie.

Rather than going up to the observation deck for the night view, I actually found it more moving to stand below or go to a nearby bridge and admire the tower’s lines and lighting. Every photo comes out amazing!

TOKYO SKYTREE has spectacular views. From the observation deck, you can take in the Tokyo cityscape, and it has a different charm during the day and at night.

There are also plenty of shops and dining options nearby, making it a popular Tokyo attraction that’s definitely worth visiting.
