I didn't really know this brand before—a friend recommended it. Once I went in, it felt like discovering a hidden gem! The bags are beautifully designed, come in lots of colors, and you can really feel the Japanese craftsmanship in every detail.

Kushiro Fisherman’s Wharf MOO

It is a commercial complex located adjacent to the Nusamai Bridge at the Kushiro River’s mouth. MOO is an acronym for “Marine Our Oasis” and is popular as a symbol of the waterfront.

Nagaragawa Department Store

Opened in 2016, this store features traditional crafts that Gifu is proud of. Nearby is Nagara River, which is said to be one of the three cleanest rivers in Japan. The surrounding area is lined with Japanese houses over 100 years old, long-established hot spring inns, and hotels. The traditional atmosphere of the past still remains. During the cormorant fishing season on the Nagara River, the area is crowded with many tourists.

This is a traditional craft shop mainly making paper umbrellas and lanterns using Mino paper. It was a really nice experience.

Irori Dining in Shirakawa-go

Near the Ogi-machi Bridge over the Shogawa River, this dining spot in Shirakawa-go offers local Hida cuisine in a Gassho-zukuri farmhouse. Using locally sourced ingredients, guests can savor the region's traditional dishes.

They have a great selection of ingredients here, including five different cuts of Hida beef and a colorful variety of vegetables. The place is really popular, so if you don't make a reservation, you'll have to wait in line.

Located slightly away from the Shirakawa-go gassho-zukuri village, near the scenic viewpoint, Masuen Bunsuke is a river fish restaurant where you can savor iwana, amago, and rainbow trout, all swimming in a tank fed by natural spring water, prepared in various cooking styles. You can dine in a tranquil atmosphere, overlooking the garden that surrounds the gassho-zukuri structure.

The highlight here is definitely the fresh river fish raised right around the restaurant—super fresh! Since they're farmed in crystal-clear spring water, there's no fishy smell at all. Even the sashimi is delicious and totally safe to eat raw.

Shiroyama Tenshukaku / Tenbodai Souvenir Shop / Tenbodai Cafe

The "Tenshukaku Observation Deck" overlooks the gassho-style houses of the World Heritage site Shirakawa-go and is flanked by the "Tenbodai Souvenir Shop" and "Tenbodai Cafe," making it a beloved scenic spot.

The observation deck is free—no ticket needed! The view here is fantastic, and you can see the whole Gassho Village. When the village is lit up, it's even more magical and really leaves a lasting impression.
