For this trip to Mount Fuji, I chose to take a highway bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (BUSTA Shinjuku), and it was really convenient for independent travelers! BUSTA Shinjuku is right next to Shinjuku Station, so before boarding, you can buy drinks and snacks nearby and then enjoy an easy ride to Mount Fuji.

It was my first time taking this route, and what I looked forward to most was gradually leaving central Tokyo behind and heading toward Mount Fuji. Along the way, the scenery changes from high-rise buildings to more open suburban landscapes. When the weather is good, you may even get to see Mount Fuji from the window. The bus ride itself really feels like part of the trip.

Compared with making multiple train transfers, the highway bus takes you directly to the Mount Fuji area, saving you the trouble of carrying luggage and changing trains. It's very convenient for independent travelers. It's an especially useful transportation option if your itinerary includes places such as Lake Kawaguchi and Fuji-Q Highland.

Kyoto’s famous rich matcha langue de chat, “CHA no KA,” is something matcha lovers will really enjoy! As soon as you open the package, you can smell a light matcha aroma. The cookies are crisp, with matcha chocolate sandwiched in the middle, giving them a very rich matcha flavor overall.

What I like most is that they’re not just sweet. The matcha has a slightly bitter tea flavor, making them rich and layered. They’re delicious!
Momijido Main Store

Located on Omotesando shopping street, which connects the Miyajima pier to the World Heritage Itsukushima Shrine, this established Japanese confectionery shop has been a prominent store selling specialties like momiji manju, representative of not only Miyajima but also Hiroshima, for over 100 years since its establishment in Meiji 45 (1912).

When strolling around Miyajima, Momijido Main Store is really hard to miss. Its most famous item is Miyajima’s iconic “Agemomiji,” which is a regular momiji manju deep-fried until the outside becomes crisp. It’s warm in your hand and perfect for eating while you walk!

When you bite into it, the outside is lightly crisp, while the red bean filling inside is still soft, fragrant, and sweet. Eating it warm is a completely different experience from a regular momiji manju.
Sapporo TV Tower

Built in 1956 on Nishi 1-chome, the starting point of Odori Park, the Sapporo TV Tower is well known to locals and tourists alike as a landmark of Sapporo that has witnessed the city's development since its completion.

We came to the Sapporo TV Tower at night, just in time for the illumination. The entire tower lit up against the night sky and was very eye-catching even from a distance. Together with the lights of Odori Park, it gave downtown Sapporo a more romantic atmosphere.

Looking from Odori Park, you can see the tower blending into the surrounding streetscape. It's especially more charming at night when the lights come on than during the day. Strolling around while enjoying the night view was really relaxing.
