On this trip to Fukuoka, I came here for yakiniku after an employee at a drugstore recommended it to me! I was already looking for a good yakiniku restaurant to try, and it really didn’t disappoint. The meat was excellent, and after eating here, I felt this was a place worth recommending to everyone〜

The restaurant is very spacious and comfortable, and private rooms are also available. It’s a great choice for both gatherings with friends and meals with family.

The quality of the meat here is really good. The wagyu has beautiful marbling, and the meat is delicate and tender. It’s definitely high quality! Besides the yakiniku, the various side dishes were also quite tasty. I was very satisfied with the meal overall, and anyone who likes wagyu should definitely give it a try!

It’s also very convenient after your meal because Don Quijote is right across the street. You can go straight there to shop and buy souvenirs without wasting any time!

If you’re staying near Hakata or planning to shop around Nakasu, you can add this restaurant to your itinerary. It’s really convenient to enjoy delicious yakiniku and then shop at Donki afterward! I recommend it to everyone〜

Kurume Centennial Park

Kurume Centennial Park in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a nature-rich park that opened in 1989 to mark the city’s 100th anniversary. In spring, azaleas bloom in profusion, wrapping the park in vivid color. If you're in Kurume, Fukuoka, and looking for a place to take a walk and enjoy the natural scenery, Kurume Centennial Park is also a good choice! It's a well-known cherry blossom viewing spot in Kurume and is beautiful when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring. During azalea season, you can also enjoy the colorful flowers.

There's also the large Yume Town Kurume shopping center (ゆめタウン久留米) nearby, so after visiting the park, you can stop by to shop and get something to eat. It's very convenient to plan them together.
Kurume Castle Ruins & Sasayama Shrine

Built on a hill along the Chikugo River, Kurume Castle was the residence of the Arima clan, who ruled the Kurume Domain for about 250 years during the Edo period. Today, the remaining stone walls and inner moat of the main keep offer a glimpse into the castle’s former grandeur.

On this trip to Kurume, of course I had to add the Kurume Castle Ruins to my itinerary! My main reason was to collect the Japan's Continued Top 100 Castles stamp, and I also stopped by the neighboring Sasayama Shrine to look around and pay my respects. The weather was great that day, and there weren't many people, so it was very pleasant to explore. I originally came just for the stamp, but unexpectedly ended up enjoying a relaxing stroll. I was really happy to add another stamp to my collection!

This was once the residence of the lords of the Kurume Domain, but the castle was later abandoned, and its structures no longer remain. Today, the main attractions are Sasayama Shrine, the Arima Memorial Museum, and other facilities.

The weather was great that day, and when I arrived, I found that there weren't many visitors. The whole area was very peaceful, and the air was fresh, making it especially pleasant to walk around. You can also see the river nearby, so it's a nice place for a leisurely stroll or even to find a spot to sit and do nothing while enjoying a rare moment of relaxation.

Although you can no longer see what the castle looked like in the past, it's still well worth a visit for anyone who enjoys Japanese castle ruins. Especially for those collecting the Japan's Continued Top 100 Castles stamps, getting the stamp really gives you a sense of accomplishment!

If you'd like to buy omamori or prayer-related souvenirs from the shrine, check the service counter to the left of the shrine's main entrance.

As for transportation, it's about a 15-minute walk from the station. However, the route passes through an industrial area where large trucks come and go, so be especially careful while walking.

Overall, this isn't a lively attraction with lots of tourist facilities, but I really like quiet, pleasant places like this. Traveling isn't only about visiting popular attractions. Sometimes, small places like this, where you can slow down and quietly enjoy the scenery, can also leave you with wonderful memories!
Chikuzen Ichinomiya Sumiyoshi Shrine

There are 2129 shrines which enshrines the grand god of Sumiyoshi. This shrine is said to be the very first of them. The god housed here is written in the Record of Ancient Matters. As the Shikinai Myojin-taisha and the first shrine in the Chikuzen Region, it has 1800 years of history.

On this trip to Fukuoka, I happened to make time to visit Sumiyoshi Shrine! I originally thought that since the shrine was in the city, it would be fairly busy. But once I walked in, I found tall trees all around, and the whole area was quite peaceful, very different from the lively streets outside.

It's only about an 8-minute walk from Hakata Station, so it's really convenient to get to! If Kushida Shrine is also on your itinerary, you can stop by here to pay your respects without making a big detour.

The grounds are quite spacious, and there aren't many people, so you can take your time exploring and taking photos without constantly having to avoid passersby. The shrine also thoughtfully provides smartphone stands for taking pictures, making it easy to take photos even if you come alone. I thought that was a really nice touch!

They also have beautiful star omamori, so anyone who likes collecting Japanese omamori should keep an eye out for them. There's also an imposing statue of a strongman, along with sumo-related facilities nearby, which gives the place a distinctive feel! If you work out or like sumo culture, remember to find it and take a photo with it.

After walking around, I felt that Sumiyoshi Shrine was a great place to include in a Fukuoka city itinerary. You don't need to spend much time getting there, and you can find a quiet place to walk around and experience the atmosphere of a Japanese shrine.
