Mount Takao, located in the outskirts of Tokyo, is popular for casual hiking and climbing. The "Mount Takao Cable Car" connects the foot of the mountain to the middle in about 6 minutes, a journey that would take about an hour on foot, allowing everyone to comfortably enjoy the outdoors.

The route between Kiyotaki Station at the foot of the mountain and Takao-san Station on the mountain is about 1,000 meters long with an elevation difference of about 270 meters. At the steepest point near Takao-san Station, it has an incline of 31 degrees, the steepest for a cable car in Japan. The view of Mount Takao from the car, including the nature of each season, is a must-see. It's so popular that queues may form during the Golden Week holiday and the autumn foliage season. The area around Takao-san Station is also packed with lookout spots, gourmet food, and souvenir shops.

Pets such as dogs and cats can also ride on the cable car, but they need a dedicated cage or carry bag (available for rental at the cable car station). Also, Kiyotaki Station has a two-seater lift station. It takes about 12 minutes to reach the mountain-top station, which is slightly lower than the cable car's Takao-san Station.
