Otsumami Laboratory Taisha Monzen Lab & Japan Zenzai Society Shop No.1

Located along the approach to Izumo Taisha Shrine, this is a collaboration shop between Otsumami Laboratory and the Japan Zenzai Society. Otsumami Laboratory sells 120 carefully selected snacks from across Japan, along with Shimane junmai sake. The Japan Zenzai Society is a renowned zenzai spot that promotes the local tradition nationwide, based on the claim in old records that zenzai originated in Izumo.

The Japan Zenzai Society’s zenzai is known for its clear, light broth, made by seasoning with four types of sugar and resting it with freshly boiled Dainagon azuki beans. Enjoy a range of options, including “Izumo Zenzai” with chewy house-made shiratama dumplings, “Enmusubi Zenzai” topped with fragrant grilled mochi made from Shimane’s premium Nita rice, and a refreshing “Chilled Zenzai.”
