Located in Obata-cho, Ise City, Mie Prefecture, Unagi no Chiyoko has been a beloved local restaurant since opening in 1999, with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. It serves eel grilled over Kishu binchotan charcoal, bringing out both its savory aroma and tender texture.

The restaurant is particular about using Japanese eel, which is rested in the underground spring water of the Miyagawa River before being grilled over charcoal. For unaju and unadon, you can choose from four sizes based on the amount of eel, and enjoy the plump texture of the fish with the fragrant flavor of the sauce. The secret sauce, crafted to bring out the eel’s natural umami, pairs perfectly with Koshihikari rice from Meiwa Town. Chiyoko’s signature shirayaki and hitsumabushi are also available, and one of the highlights is being able to enjoy the eel in three different ways, including as ochazuke. Eel dishes made with grated Ise-imo yam, a local specialty, are also popular.

The restaurant has Approx. 30 seats, including counter seats, tables, tatami seating, and private rooms. It works well for both solo diners and groups, offering a relaxed place to enjoy a meal. Many guests are local regulars and eel lovers, and the quality of the eel and the fragrant sauce are especially highly rated.
