Yagyu won two consecutive competitions on the popular TV Tokyo program “TV Champion,” earning the fourth and fifth B-Grade Gourmet Champion titles.
A “professional food enthusiast” with a deep love of inexpensive, delicious food, he travels throughout Japan sampling and researching food. He sees it as his calling to share the knowledge and information gained through those experiences and bring enjoyment to others.

He is especially passionate about oden, and dashi in particular, and actively works as a regional oden specialist and leading advocate for regional oden. Through connections formed during these activities, he also serves as an Ishinomaki Tourism Ambassador, Ishinomaki Oden Ambassador, and Ishinomaki Food Ambassador for Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. He also produces Ishinomaki Oden Premium, a mail-order oden product that draws on the distinctive appeal of Ishinomaki.
